Leadership Transition at 1916 Company: Melanie Chud Appointed as New Retail President

Instructions

1916 Company, a prominent entity in the watch and jewelry sector, is undergoing a significant leadership change as its retail president, Damon Gross, prepares to depart by the close of May. His departure marks a pivotal moment for the company's retail division, which will now be helmed by Melanie Chud.

Melanie Chud, currently the vice president of retail and the head of the East Coast operations, is set to ascend to the position of retail president. In her new capacity, she will be responsible for overseeing the company's various boutiques and stores. It's important to note that the specialized collector's lounges, which focus on pre-owned timepieces, will remain under the stewardship of George Mayer, the president of e-commerce, international, and pre-owned watches. Additionally, Kathy Dobos will continue to manage the West Coast retail division as vice president of stores. Gross's transition is described by the company as a carefully considered move, and it is affirmed that their existing retail strategies will not be altered.

This transition comes as 1916 Company also announces the upcoming launch of a new showroom in Manhattan Beach, California. This latest addition will bring the total number of the company's locations to 25, encompassing eight multi-brand stores (all now operating under the 1916 name), nine brand boutiques, six collector’s lounges, and a central headquarters and service facility located in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania.

The strategic leadership transition and ongoing expansion initiatives within 1916 Company demonstrate a forward-looking approach to sustained growth and market presence. By fostering internal talent and strategically growing its physical footprint, the company reinforces its commitment to excellence and innovation in the luxury watch and jewelry market.
